Formal Bow In

At the beginning of every class the students line up in rank order to bow to Sensei and the Joseki.

Warm Up

The warmup consists of stretching and cardio.

Striking Techinques

This portion of class consists of teaching striking techniques, followed by bag and pad work.

Jujutsu Techniques

This portion of class takes up the bulk of class and includes both the teaching and practice of:

Gatame Waza (Mat Holding Techniques)
Shime Waza (Choking Techniques)
Kansetsu Waza (Joint Locking Techinques)
Nage Waza (Throwing Techniques)

Goshin Jutsu (Self-Defense)

Self-Defense consists of learning to defend yourself against real world attacks, such as wrist grabs, grips on your garmets, pushes, punches, kicks, body holds, club attacks, strangulations, wrestling holds, knife attacks, baseball bat attacks, and gun attacks. It puts together techniques learned in Jujutsu to train you to effectively address any potential physical threat you may face from another person.

Rondori, MMA Sparring, & Round Robin

Rondori is a form of sparring developed from Judo. It puts two students against each other with the goal of submitting the other person in a choke or joint lock. The match ends when the time is up or when there is a submission. To win one must either submit their opponent or win on points which is accumulated through take downs and matt holds. There is no striking in Randori. Both opponents begin standing up and attempt to take the other down and then proceed to apply a submission to end the match.

MMA Sparring is similar to Rondori except striking is allowed.

Round Robin is a training technique to prepare students for real world attacks. Each student in class is assigned a number and a specific attack (club attack, body hold, punch, etc.) and one student stands in the middle. The other students run around the one student who is in the middle and as the sensei calls a number, the student with that number attacks the student in the middle with his or her designated attack. This simulates being attacked from multiple directions and not knowing where the next attack will come from.

Class Demonstrations

Towards the end of class you may be called up in front of the class to demonstrate some or all of the techniques that you have learned during class or that you have learned for your belt level.

Formal Bow Out

At the end of every class the students line up in rank order to bow to Sensei and the Joseki.
